Living our dream; working and living on the Hibiscus Coast...

Orewa Framing Studio was born in 2015, after several long conversations, dreaming and lots of planning. Like most kiwis, our quintessential dream is to strike the perfect life-work balance, share in the care and raising of our two kids, be part of our local community and ride our bikes to work! We want to wake up every morning, jump out of bed and do something we are not only passionate about but that is also practical, creative and brings a smile to others.

We quickly realised that picture framing would be a perfect career and partnership, utilising our existing skills as an experienced Graphic Designer (Vanessa, 12 years) and a Civil/Structural Engineering Draughtsman (Chris, 20+ years).

Wendie and Gary Wright, who are highly regarded conservation picture framers, have been our mentors and role models and worked along side us in the studio since 2015. Wendie has since gone back into semi-retirement but likes to call this her 'play pen' so drops in frequently.

Gary passed away in 2020 - he had faith in us from our very first phone call. He brought his presence to a room, was always impeccable and many of you may have had him in your home with his hanging service - we will miss him dearly.

Wendie and Gary have extensive framing experience and operated their own picture framing business for 14 years in Albany. Wendie has in fact been framing since 1956 and was a Fine Art Trade Guild Examiner.

We are proud to be 100% NZ owned and operated. Wherever possible we will always shop locally and support our surrounding business owners and local community.
